The 40th edition of the Tour of San Juan 2025 began with great excitement this Friday, January 24, 2025, when cyclist Tomás Moyano won the Prologue held in the department of Santa Lucía. In front of an enthusiastic audience, the 123 participants faced each other in an unprecedented format, with six qualifying heats to one lap of the circuit. After this phase, 18 cyclists qualified for the final, which defined the first leader of the competition.

The Prologue final was held on a 7.6-kilometer circuit in Santa Lucía, including Colón, Cordillera de Los Andes, San Juan and San Lorenzo streets. In a close finish, Moyano (Portal de San Juan) took first place with a time of 19 minutes 12 seconds, crowning himself as the new leader of the Vuelta a San Juan. Next, cyclist Rodrigo Silva (SEP) finished in second place, while Abraham Paredes (Municipalidad Pocito) completed the podium in third place.

This Saturday, January 25, the Tour of San Juan will continue with the first stage, which will cover 136.5 kilometers from Plaza 25 de Mayo, in the capital of San Juan, to the Circuito San Juan Villicum in Albardón. The stage will pass through the departments of Pocito, Sarmiento, San Martín and Angaco, and promises to be a challenge for the cyclists.

The competition, which will run until January 31, is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions in history, with Tomás Moyano in great shape and ready to defend his lead. Will he be able to maintain his advantage in the following stages? The show is about to begin!
