The United States women’s pursuit team won the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games after beating New Zealand at the Saint Quentin National Velodrome in Yvelines.
The American team of Jennifer Valente, Lily Williams, Chloe Dygert, road time trial bronze medalist, and Kristen Faulkner, Olympic road champion, defeated New Zealand, which included Ally Wollaston, Bryony Botha, Emily Shearman and Nicole Shields.
The Americans clocked 4:04.306 (58.942 kilometers per hour) to their rivals’ 4:04.306 (58.942). Among the members of the American quartet were Kristen Faulkner and Chloé Dygert, who won the gold medal in the road race and the bronze medal in the time trial, respectively.
The bronze medal went to Great Britain, who clocked 4:06.382 (58.446) to Italy’s 4:08.961 (57.840). The British team consisted of Elinor Barker, Josie Knight, Anna Morris and Jessica Roberts.
At Tokyo 2020, the top three places went to Germany, Great Britain and the United States, in that order.
