Three dream days for Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in Portugal. Orluis Aular won the GP Internacional Torres Vedras – Trofeo Joaquim Agostinho 2024, resisting his advantage over the Portuguese rider Afonso Eulálio in a day of mountains with an unexpected outcome in the Alto de Montejunto.

The Venezuelan cyclist, who started with a lead slightly over a minute over the Portuguese climber, was able to set his own pace on the hardest ramps of the pass to reach the top with 13″ of margin over the ABTF – Feirense man.

“Being the first Venezuelan to win this race is a source of pride. Very happy. The truth is that I did not expect it, since it was too complicated a climb, but I trusted in my options and the good shape I’m in and it went great,” said the Venezuelan, in statements collected by Spanish team.

With this new success, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA reaches fourteen victories this season, contributing in this final part of the week two stages of the Joaquim Agostinho Trophy with David Gonzalez and Aular himself.

As for the Colombians, Juan David Cárdenas (Portos Windmob) was the best in 94th place, followed by Alonso Echavarría (CCL-Matdiver-Anastácio Mendes & Mendes) in 95th place and Edwar Rondón (Portos Windmob) in 96th place, all three more than 45 minutes behind the champion.
