The Italian cyclist Vittoria Bussi broke the world hour record on October 13 by traveling 50,267 kilometers at the Bicentenario Velodrome in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and thus became the first woman to overcome the 50-kilometer barrier in this event. .
With this result, she improved by more than a kilometer the previous universal record held by the Dutch Ellen van Dijk (49,254 kilometers), dated May 23, 2022. The peculiarity of now is that the Italian postponed the initial day on which she had set due to the low temperatures in the Mexican Velodrome.
This exceptional performance means that the Italian cyclist, who already held the record from September 2018 to September 2021 (with 48,007 kilometers), recovers this world mark for her endorsement. The International Cycling Union (UCI) validated this task hours later with a congratulatory message from the owner David Lappartient.
Vittoria Bussi is a member of the BJ Bike Club ASD. Bussi, mathematician, former runner and international triathlete. As a cyclist, he has been on the podium several times in the individual time trial at the Italian National Championships and was part of the Italian team that took the bronze medal in the mixed team time trial relay at the 2020 UEC European Championships.
