In a very fast finish, Wilmar Paredes (Team Medellín-EPM) won the third stage of the Clásico RCN 2024 in a strange packing, after riding 207.5 kilometers between Lebrija and Puerto Berrío. Rodrigo Contreras (Nu Colombia) kept the lead.
The rider from Antioquia appeared over the last meters and crossed the finish line first, with a time of 5:01:20″. Second came Juan Diego Hoyos (Team Sistecrédito) and third was Cristian Vélez (GW Erco Shimano).
The longest stage of the ‘Duel of Titans’, began with multiple attacks in the early stages, forming a breakaway with Robingzon Oyola (Team Medellin-EPM), Juan Felipe Osorio (Orgullo Paisa), Alejandro Ruiz (100% Huevos-Alcaldía de Manizales) and Leison Maca (Ron Viejo de Caldas).
The four escapees stayed together for several kilometers until the peloton accelerated the pace on the flat terrain to neutralize the quartet’s adventure in the final stage.
In the last kilometers Luis David Marulanda (Team Depormundo) tried to surprise the sprinters, but the bunch caught him in the final part, leaving everything to the bunch where Wilmar Paredes (Team Medellin-EPM) was the fastest. This Tuesday will be disputed the fourth stage of the ‘Duel of Titans’, which will take the riders from Puerto Salgar to Ibagué along 169.5 kilometers with several undulations and with a final uphill.
